5 New Rules About Exercise That Might Surprise You
See the look on this guyโs face? Thatโs how I feel about the gym. I hate going to the gym. Even before the pandemic, I wasnโt a fan of the gym.
Like, spin class. All I hear are squeaking bikes that make me wince (itโs like nails on a chalkboard). Also not a fan of some ripped instructor screaming encouragement to move FASTER, and YEAH, YOU GOT THIS, GIRL!!!!!!
Aghhhhhh. I just want to say, stop yelling at me!!
Zumba classes feel like Iโm back in high school with mean girls in perfect gym outfits with their โwe belong and you donโtโ attitudes.ย
So obviously, as you can see, the gym is NOT my thing.
But hereโs what I absolutely love…
Ice skating. Power walks with my BFF. Hiking. Weight training at home.
I can do the above all day long and itโs super fun and effortless for me
Moral of the story – exercise isnโt about torturing yourself. Itโs about having fun, being healthy and feeling good.
These are my five new rules about exercise:
Rule #1: Work out because you want to be stronger and feel healthier, NOT because you ate chocolate.
Rule #2: Exercise to feel good, not to look good.
Rule #3: You donโt have to break a sweat. If youโre moving, it counts!
Rule #4: Donโt exercise now just so you can eat pasta (or drink wine or have dessert) later.
Rule #5: Find something you love, and keep doing it. Itโll feel like running, walking, dancing, weightlifting, playing tennis, biking, swimming, rollerblading, rollerskatingโฆ NOT like exercising.
When you change your mindset about exercise youโll have a lot more fun AND be more fit.
Comment below on which rule jumps out to you the most! Which one will you implement ASAP, and why?
