See the look on this guyโ€™s face? Thatโ€™s how I feel about the gym. I hate going to the gym. Even before the pandemic, I wasnโ€™t a fan of the gym.

new rules exercise

Like, spin class. All I hear are squeaking bikes that make me wince (itโ€™s like nails on a chalkboard). Also not a fan of some ripped instructor screaming encouragement to move FASTER, and YEAH, YOU GOT THIS, GIRL!!!!!!

Aghhhhhh. I just want to say, stop yelling at me!!

Zumba classes feel like Iโ€™m back in high school with mean girls in perfect gym outfits with their โ€œwe belong and you donโ€™tโ€ attitudes.ย

So obviously, as you can see, the gym is NOT my thing.

But hereโ€™s what I absolutely love…

Ice skating. Power walks with my BFF. Hiking. Weight training at home.

I can do the above all day long and itโ€™s super fun and effortless for me

Moral of the story – exercise isnโ€™t about torturing yourself. Itโ€™s about having fun, being healthy and feeling good.

These are my five new rules about exercise:

Rule #1: Work out because you want to be stronger and feel healthier, NOT because you ate chocolate.

Rule #2: Exercise to feel good, not to look good.

Rule #3: You donโ€™t have to break a sweat. If youโ€™re moving, it counts!

Rule #4:  Donโ€™t exercise now just so you can eat pasta (or drink wine or have dessert) later.

Rule #5: Find something you love, and keep doing it. Itโ€™ll feel like running, walking, dancing, weightlifting, playing tennis, biking, swimming, rollerblading, rollerskatingโ€ฆ NOT like exercising.

When you change your mindset about exercise youโ€™ll have a lot more fun AND be more fit.

Comment below on which rule jumps out to you the most! Which one will you implement ASAP, and why?
