She Swore She Was a Food Addict, But When I Asked Her This One Question…

Binge Eating is Not About Food

From the age of 5 years old all the way to college, I struggled with feeling fat.

I would go on diets, but they would never last because my willpower would always fail me.

So I binged, then felt horrible about myself for eating so much, and used laxatives or other measures to manage my weight.

Eventually, I decided to go to therapy for my anxiety. I was completely open with my therapist about everything going on in my life, but I never mentioned my unbearable relationship with food. (I was too embarrassed)

But the strangest thing happened…

→ As sessions went on, I was less and less anxious.

→ I turned to food less and less frequently.

→ And I wasn’t bingeing anymore.
